Activity of Social Sciences Month in Tongji

    On December 3rd, our institute held a lecture for a special activity of Social Sciences Month in Tongji University. At the invitation by our institute, Mr. Mingqi Xu, senior researcher and vice dean of Institute for Studies on World Economy, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, and deputy secretary-general of our institute, came to Tongji University and made a presentation entitled “U.S. Financial Crisis and Its influence on China”, which was participated in by over 100 faculty members and students of Tongji University. With vivid cases and detailed data and graphs, Professor Mingqi Xu expounded the essence, emerging, contagion, and up-to-date development of financial crisis, as well as its influence on the economy, real estate, and stock market of our country, with a summary of lessens and experience that we could draw from this U.S. financial crisis. After this presentation, faculty members and students of Tongji University all expressed their praise and thought that the presentation made by Professor Mingqi Xu offered a more comprehensive and profound understanding on the subprime credit crisis. Therefore this activity provided excellent effect of learning and education.
