On February 22nd, Professor Mario Telo, the Jean Monnet Chair Professor and dean of Center for European Studies, Free University of Belgium, came to a small symposium sponsored by our institute, and made exchanges with members of our institute on such issues as China-Europe-US relation under current international situation, and multi-lateral cooperation. Professor Telo extended discussion and probing with members of our institute on such issues as divergence between China and Europe, Obama administration’s China policy, the China-Europe-US triangle relation, and the content of new multilateralism. A great concern was made by this symposium on up-to-date international situation and events in China-Europe relation, so as to offer close understanding on the trends of research and major opinions of our counterparts as well as famous scholars in Europe, and to provide our foreign counterparts with introduction on most recent accomplishments and achievements of domestic European studies in China, which is beneficial to the promotion on academic exchange and progress of both parties. In addition, a strong consensus was reached on this symposium, that academic exchange between scholars and students of both China and Europe should be enhanced. This symposium was attended by Yikang Wu, Bingran Dai, Jiang Ye, Zhimin Chen, ZIheng Cao, Yuming Ye, HIafeng Yang, Chao Zhou, Tianxiang Zhu, and Francois Renard.
