On the afternoon of March 21st of 2008, the 2008 session of annual meeting & symposium of our institute was held in the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, which was participated in by over 60 members of our institute. The meeting elected new council of SIES and the participants heard the keynote report made by Dr. Ziheng Cao, secretary-general of our institute on the review of affairs and work of our institute during 2008, and on the general planning over work in 2009. Then all the participants made extensive and probing academic discussion over various issues centered on the topic of “European Situation under Financial Crisis and Big Power Relations”, including such issues as China-France relation, economic circumstances of Europe and China-Europe relation.
