The 8th Vol. of Journal of World Ecnomics and Politics 2010 published SIES member, Prof. Chen Yugang's article "international justice of regional cooperation and responsibilities of big countries". the paper studies the justice of regional cooperation. it points out that the process of EU integration has an emerging tendency of supernational, and regionalism is now facing the divergence of supranationalism and supernationalism, the later is unjustice. the paper also explores issues like hegemony of big states inside the EU. these important views are relevant to how to define the EU, how to look on its institutions and coordinations as a supranational entity, and whether the EU has a tendency to become a superstate? and ultimately, these views are relevant to the fundamental judgements towards regional cooperation and the EU integration. in such backgroud, SIES held a symposium on September 9th, and invited some scholars to have a discusssion on this topic.
this is the first time that SIES organized an acticity to discuss a single member's dissertation, and it is not often in Chinese academia as well. this kind of discussion is not simply to judge who is right or wrong, but is to exchange different views. it is a new step of SIES on promoting flourish academic studies.
