On November 8th of 2011, the “Symposium on the Changes of the World and the Development Strategy for China-Europe Relation” was jointly held by the Shanghai Institute for European Studies and Shanghai Institute for International Studies in a conference hall of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, and nearly 50 academicians participated in this symposium. Professor Dai Bingran, president of our institute presided at the symposium, on which speeches and discussions were made by major scholars of Shanghai specialized in European studies, such as Professor Wu Yikang, honorable president of our institute, Professor Chen Zhimin from Fudan University, Professor Yang Fengmin, vice president of our institute, Professor Xu Mingqi, who was also a vice president of our institute. Their speeches and discussions were concentrated over the topics of world changes in this year, bilateral political and economic relation between China and Europe, and European sovereign debt crisis. Participants held heated debates and discussions over European debt crisis, prospect of European integration, China’s foreign policy against such crisis.
