On the afternoon of the December 23rd, the fifth assembly and the 2012 annual academic conference of Shanghai Institute for European Studies (SIES) were held in the East China Normal University. This assembly and annual academic conference were sponsored and organized by the School of Advanced International and Area Studies, East China Normal University. On this assembly, members of SIES deliberated upon the final report on the work of SIES' fourth council, and revised SIES' charter. Finally the members participating in this assembly passed these two documents through voting, and then elected the fifth council and the new executive board of SIES. In this new executive board, Professor Xu Mingqi takes the office of president of SIES, Professor Cao Deming, Dr. Cao Ziheng, Professor Chen Zhimin, Professor Ding Chun, Professor Feng Shaolei, Mr. Wang Xiaoshu, Professor Yang Fengmin, Professor Ye Jiang, and Professor Zheng Chunrong, take the offices of vice president, and Professor Wu Yikang and Professor Dai Bingran are elected honorary presidents of SIES. Dr. Cao Ziheng also takes the office of secretary general of SIES. Professor Zhang Zuqian, Professor Dai Qixiu, and Dr. Yang Haifeng now become the deputy secretaries-general of SIES.
This is the site of the first meeting of the fifth council of SIES.
Professor Xu Minqi, the new president of SIES, was awarding the certificate of honorary president to Professor Dai Bingran, the former president of SIES.
