SIES organized “the Symposium on the Governances of European Countries and Their Enlightenments to China”

On the afternoon of September 21st, “the Symposium on the Governances of European Countries and Their Enlightenments to China”, which was the Specialized Symposium for the European Studies for the 12th Annual Academic Conference of the Shanghai Association of Social Sciences. This symposium was hosted by the Shanghai Association of Social Sciences and jointly organized by the Shanghai Institute for European Studies and the Shanghai Association of International Studies. It was participated by altogether 61 scholars and researchers from the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, the Shanghai Institute for International Studies, the Fudan University, the Tongji University, the East China Normal University, and the East China University of Technology. SIES’ vice president Prof. Chen Zhimin and honorary president Prof. Dai Bingran presided this symposium and its current president Prof. Xu Mingqi made the opening speech and concluding talks. Presentations on special topics were made by Prof. Zheng Chunrong, Prof. Wu Yikang, Prof. Xu Mingqi, Prof. Yang Fengmin, Prof. Jin Yingzhong, Prof. Qian Yunchun, Prof. Ding Chun, Prof. Wang Zhiqiang, Prof. Zang Shumei, Prof. Zhang Ji, Dr. Li Yang, and Prof. Na Chunlin. Following these presentations, participants took discussions and elaborations over the central theme of this symposium. The organizer compiled an anthology entitled “the Governances of European Countries and Their Enlightenments to China” and recommended five excellent papers to the Central Annual Meeting of the Shanghai Association of Social Sciences.
