On October 19th of 2014, the Shanghai Institute for European Studies and the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences jointly sponsored an international symposium on the “Retrospect and Prospect of the China-France Relations” in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the formal diplomatic relations between China and France. Invited to this symposium were scholars and experts from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris, Universite Paris 1, the French Asian Center, Fudan University, the Shanghai Institute of International Studies, and the East China Normal University, who made far-reaching and profound discussions over the possible China-France cooperation in the fields of energy and non-traditional security, and the possible China-France coordination on the new order of international security and the regional cooperation. Participants of this symposium all pointed out that China and France shall further strengthen their existing exchanges and cooperation in such fields as global governance, so that the China-France overall strategic partnership can be consolidated and developed.
