On December 14th 2014, at the 70th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War and the 100th anniversary of the breakout of the First World War, a Youth Forum was held in the Qunyan Hall of the Building of the Shanghai Association of Social Sciences, which was jointly sponsored by the Shanghai Institute for European Studies, the Shanghai Association of World History Studies, and the Shanghai Association of the Studies on Russia, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia. The theme of this forum was “the World in Transition: Big Power Relations and the Evolution of the International Pattern”. Mr. Wang Kemin, director of the department of academic associations and institutes of the Shanghai Association of Social Sciences came to this forum and presented a speech. This forum was presided by Prof. Yu Jianhua, vice president and secretary-general of the Shanghai Association of World History Studies, and Dr. Cao Ziheng, secretary general of the Shanghai Institute for European Studies. On this forum, presentations were made by Prof. Meng Zhongjie of the History Department of the East China Normal University, Associate Research Fellow Mr. Li Kaisheng of the Institute of International Studies, the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Prof. Liu Jun of the School of International Studies and Regional Development, East China Normal University, Dr. Zhang Ji of the School of International Relations and Public Affairs, Fudan University, Associate Prof. Bi Hongye of the Central Asian Studies Center of the Shanghai International Studies University, and Associate Prof. Yang Cheng of the School of International Studies and Regional Development, East China Normal University. The topics of their presentations include: “Big Power Relations before the First World War and the Sarajevo Incident”, “Hundred Years’ Evolution of Big Power Relations and International Pattern”, “U.S.-Europe Relations in the Post-Financial Crisis Era”, “European Integration after the General Election of the European Parliament and EU’s Foreign Relations”, “the Influence of the Ukraine Crisis over the Big Power Relations”, and “the Russia’s Global Strategy and the Four-lateral Relations between Russia, U.S., China, and EU”. Their presentations were commented by the outstanding members of the above-mentioned three academic associations and institute, including: Prof. Yu Weimin of the East China Normal University, Prof. Wu Yikang from the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, and Prof. Wang Ning from the Shanghai International Studies University. This forum was participated in by over 60 young scholars, Ph.D. candidates, and postgraduates from various universities and academic institutions of Shanghai.
