On the afternoon of June 26th, a ceremonial symposium was held in the small auditorium of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences for celebrating the publishing of the Anthology of Prof. Wu Yikang and the 40th anniversary of his career of teaching and researching in the field of European studies. This ceremonial symposium was jointly organized by the SIES, the Section of World Economic Studies and the Center for European Studies of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. Over 60 scholars from various universities and other academic institutions of Shanghai took part in this symposium. It was presided by the Prof. Quan Heng, vice dean of the Section of World Economic Studies of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. Mr. Wang Zhan, the President of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and Mr. Yu Xinhui, the Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party’s Committee of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences turned up and made speeches. And then addresses were made by participants of the symposium, such as the Prof. Yao Qinhua, the vice dean of the Section of World Economic Studies of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, and the President Xu Mingqi of the SIES. The speakers presented their congratulations on the publishing of this anthology and expressed their admirations towards Prof. Wu Yikang for his charms of personality and his extraordinary achievements made from his career of 40 years’ teaching and researching in the field of European studies. They all indicated their determinations to inherit Prof. Wu Yikang’s vitality of strenuous work and assiduous research, and also extended their sincere wishes that Prof. Wu Yikang may preserve his academic youthfulness forever.
