On September 19th, the Academic Conference on “the ‘One Belt One Road’ Initiative and the China-EU relations: in Commemoration of the 40th Anniversary of the Establishment of the China-EU Relations” was held in the Shanghai International Studies University. During the morning sessions of this conference, nearly 70 distinguished guests from both inside and outside China reviewed the development of the China-EU relations in the past 40 years and made prospects over its future. During the afternoon sessions, 8 experts of European studies made presentations about the significance and influence of the “One Belt One Road Initiative” over the China-Europe relations, and discussed the opportunities and challenges brought by this initiative to the China-Europe cooperation.
This conference was jointly sponsored by the Shanghai Institute for European Studies (SIES) and the Shanghai International Studies University, and co-organized by the Center for European Studies of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS), the Center for European Studies of the Shanghai Institute for International Studies (SIIS), the Center for European Studies of the Fudan University, and the German Studies Institute of the Tongji University. The most distinguished guests addressing the opening ceremony of this conference were: Ms. Carmen CANO, deputy head of the Mission of the European Union in China, Prof. CAO Deming, president of the Shanghai International Studies University, Mr. WANG Xiaoshu, executivevice president of the Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and Prof. XU Mingqi, president of the Shanghai Institute for European Studies. Also participating in this conference were representatives from the consulates-general of Spain, Netherlands, Germany, Italy, France, and Portugal.
