On the afternoon of December 29th, the press conference for the launching of 2016 Report on National Governance Index of EU was held in the School of International Relations and Public Affairs of the Fudan University. This conference was jointly sponsored by the School of International Relations and Public Affairs of Fudan University, the Political Science Institute of the East China University of Politics and Law, and the Shanghai Institute for European Studies.
The Report on National Governance Index of EU is the latest academic research achievement on the current conditions of governance of EU member states, which is the outcome of a research project jointly conducted by the School of International Relations and Public Affairs of Fudan University and the Political Science Institute of the East China University of Politics and Law. This research project was funded by the “Pinnacle Discipline Construction Plan” of the Shanghai Municipal Government. The scholars working for this project took all the 28 member states of EU as the target of their observation, collected a vast quantity of statistical data from the websites of the United Nations, the World Bank, and national governments of EU member states, and established a quantified evaluation system that is strictly based on mathematical concentration, statistical relevance, and comprehensive analysis, so as to indicate the quality and conditions of governance in various EU member states, diagnose the differences of governance between these countries, and look for viable solutions to build a balanced internal governance for EU.
After the launching of this report, the participants of this conference, who were colleagues of European studies in Shanghai, also made some discussions and prospects on the current situations and future trends of the Europe.
