The International Symposium of “the One Belt and One Road: Security Risk Assessments and Resilience” was held in Shanghai

    On March 2nd, 2017, an international symposium on the theme of “the One Belt and One Road: Security Risk Assessments and Resilience” was held in the Academy of Shanghai Social Sciences. This symposium was jointly sponsored by the Shanghai Institute for European Studies (SIES) and the Center for European Studies of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. On the opening ceremony of this symposium, opening addresses were made by Mr. YU Xinhui, the Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party’s Committee of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Mr. XIE Chao, full-time deputy chairman of the Shanghai Federation of Academic Institutions of Social Sciences, Mr. Vladimir Bozovic, adviser to the Serbian Prime Minister, and Prof. XU Mingqi, President of the SIES and Director of the Center for European Studies of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. They gave warm congratulations and expressed great expectations on this symposium, and also extended sincere welcomes to all the guests participating in this symposium.
On this symposium, Chinese and Serbian scholars made open discussions and extensive debates on the issues related to the security risks and China-Europe security cooperation. In the end, concluding remarks were made by Prof. Ivica Radovic, Dean of the Faculty of Security Studies, University of Belgrade, and Prof. FAN Jun, former Deputy President of the East China Normal University and President of the Shanghai Association of Eastern European and Central Asian Studies. The whole conference was presided by Prof. DAI Bingran, Professor of Fudan University and Honorary President of the SIES and Prof. CAO Deming, President of the Shanghai International Studies University and Deputy President of the SIES. The Serbian guests included: Mr. Vladimir Bozovic, advisor to the Serbian Prime Minsiter, Prof. Dr. Ivica Radovic, Dean of the Faculty of Security Studies, University of Belgrade, Prof. Zoran Dragisic, Deputy Dean of the the Faculty of Security Studies, University of Belgrade, and Prof. Dr. Darko Trifunovic, Director of Center for National and International Security, and Member of the Faculty of Security Studies, University of Belgrade. This symposium was also participated in by over 40 scholars from Fudan University, Tongji University, East China Normal University, Shanghai University of Foreign Trade and Economics, Shanghai International Studies University, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, and Shanghai Institute of International Studies. Some correspondents from major media also listened to this conference.
