On the afternoon of April 6th, the SIES held a meeting of leadership and party working group, discussing the annual plan for events and the arrangement for this year’s election to create a new council for the SIES. The participants shared the information of the annual working plans of their own full-time working institution and talked about how to integrate these plans to the SIES’s annual plan. After this discussion, the plans for major events of SIES within this year were determined. On this meeting, it was determined that the SIES can fully cooperate with the Shanghai Federation of Social Science Associations (SSSA) to sponsor or organize these events. Therefore, the Secretariat of SIES was authorized by the leadership and the party working group to apply to the SSSA for related cooperative program. Also on this meeting, it was determined in accordance with the charter of SIES and directives from the SSSA that an election for a new council and the changeover between the old and new council will be completed within this year. The participants of this meeting examined the procedures for election and changeover and reviewed a related report, and authorized the Secretariat to prepare the list of candidates for a new leadership and a new council, and to draft the revisions for the charter of SIES. It is roughly decided that the general assembly of SIES shall be held in the mid November of this year. The participants of this meeting included: SIES President XU Mingqi, SIES Vice Presidents YANG Fengmin, YE Jiang, ZHENG Chunrong, Secretary-General CAO Ziheng, Deputy Secretaries-General DAI Qixiu, YANG Haifeng, and other members of the Secretariat. Prof. WU Yikang and Prof. DAI Bingran, who are former president and honorary president of SIES, also took part in this meeting.
