  On June 25th, the Symposium for “the 45th Anniversary of China-UK Ambassadorial Relations: Retrospect and Prospect of the China-UK Relations” was held in Fudan University. This symposium was jointly sponsored by Shanghai Institute for European Studies (SIES), the Center for China-Europe Relations (which is also the Center for the China-UK Humanity Exchanges), the Shanghai Association of International Relations Studies, and the Shanghai Association of World History Studies. On this symposium, ardent discussions were made on several major topics, such as: “the Golden Age of China-UK Relations: Reality or just Obsession?”, “the Economic Relations between China and UK: Allies for Liberalism?”, “the China-UK Humanity Exchanges: Foundations for Mutual Respect?”, and “China-UK Relations and Third Parties: Cooperation or Conflicts?”. Focused on the idea of constructing “a golden age” for the China-UK relations, the participants of this symposium took a review over the past development of the China-UK bilateral relations, examined the current cornerstones and problems of this bilateral relations, and assessed its future trends and prospect. Over 30 experts and scholars took part in this symposium and over 10 scholars took the floor to make presentations and speeches.
