On December 7th 2017, the “Symposium on the European Union after the French and German General Elections and the New Development of China-Europe Relations” was held in the Economics School of Fudan University. This symposium was sponsored by the Center for European Studies of Fudan University and Shanghai Institute for European Studies, and was also jointly organized by the subcommittee of European Union studies of the China Association of European Studies and the Shanghai Association of International Relations Studies. On this symposium, scholars made in-depth discussions on four major topics: 1. The current economic and social conditions of the European Union, their causes, and the prospects for the future. 2. The current conditions of the politics and diplomacy of the European Union, and their prospects. 3. The outcomes of the general elections in France and Germany, and their influences on the European Union. 4. The new development and prospects of the China-Europe relations. Around 40 scholars and experts participated in this symposium, who were from some nationally well-known think tanks and universities of Beijing, Shanghai, and Shandong, including: top think tanks and universities of Shanghai, the institute of European studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, the China Foreign Affairs University, and the Shandong University.
