From May 27th to June 1st of 2018, SIES President XU Mingqi visited Austria and Slovakia together with a delegation from the Shanghai Institute for International Studies (SIIS). They held discussions and made exchanges with people from Austrian and Slovakian governments, think tanks, and universities over the topics related to these two countries’ relations with China and the prospects of bilateral cooperation within the frameworks of “Belt and Road” Initiative and “16+1” mechanism. On May 28th, SIES President XU Mingqi participated in the “International Workshop on ‘the New Development of the Europe-China Relationship and Tripartite cooperation in 16+1 Cooperation’, which was jointly sponsored by SIIS and Austrian Institute for European and Security Policy. On May 30th, he took part in a meeting of think tank roundtable that was jointly organized by SIIS, the Slovak Foreign Policy Association, and the Slovakian Center for Asian Studies. On May 31st, he visited the Slovakian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, and exchanged ideas with Pavol Sykorcin, Secretary-General of this ministry.
