During October 23rd-24th, 2018, the 8th Cross-Strait Conference on European Economy was solemnly held in the Business School of East China University of Science and Technology. This conference was jointly held by the China Association of European Studies and European Union Center in Taiwan, and was organized by the Business School of East China University of Science and Technology. Over 80 scholars and experts from more than 30 universities and academic institutions across the Strait took part in this conference. The opening ceremony of this conference was addressed by Prof. XU Mingqi, President of the Shanghai Institute for European Studies (SIES) and Vice President of the China Association of European Studies (CAES), and Prof. WU Yikang, advisor of the SIES and CAES. They pointed out that this conference was very meaningful and beneficial to the academic exchanges and discussions between scholars cross-strait. They also expressed their hopes on the further development of this regular conference in future. They said they believe that scholars cross-strait will make more research achievements on the topics related to European integration, China-Europe and China-U.S. relations, globalization, and global reconstruction on economy and politics.
