From March 8th to 9th 2019, the International Symposium on “the Chinese and European Policies of Regional Governance and Integrative Development” was held in the Shanghai International Studies University (SISU). This symposium was sponsored by the Shanghai International Studies University and jointly organized by the Shanghai International Studies University, the Friedrich Ebert Foundation of Germany (FES), and the Shanghai Institute for European Studies (SIES). It was operated by the Department of Germanic Language of the Shanghai International Studies University and the Shanghai Institute for Global and Regional Studies. The purpose of this symposium was to contribute to the policy researches of regional governance and integrative development in both China and Germany through a sum-up of the useful experiences of practical work of China and the Europe in this field and a multilateral discussion on the governance models and effective paths in this field. Over 30 Chinese and European scholars from worldly famous academic institutions and think tanks took part in this symposium. Among them, the Chinese participants were from Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS), Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS), East China Normal University, Tongji University, Shanghai International Studies University, and HSBC Business School of Beijing University, while the European scholars were from the DG Regional Policy of the European Union, European Committee of the Regions, Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP), Hertie School of Governance in Berlin, and Hungarian Sorbonne University.
