SIES Co-organized “Seminar on the German Situation: The German Federal Election and Prospects for China-German Relations”

On March 1, 2025, the German Academic Committee of SIES, the German Studies Center for Tongji University, and the China Collaborative Network (Alliance) for German Studies co-organized  the “Seminar on the German Situation: The German Federal Election and Prospects for China-German Relations” in the Sino-German Building of Tongji University. Prof. Ding Chun, President of the SIES and Director of the Center for European Studies of Fudan University, congratulated the conference and believed that the focus should be on the anti-globalization and populism factors in the German election, and the impact of the German election on the trilateral relations between Europe, the United States and Russia, as well as on the relations between China and Europe. Prof. Zheng Chunrong, Director of German Academic Committee of SIES and Director of German Studies Center of Tongji University, made a judgment on the new trend of voter structure, the possibility of cabinet formation and the direction of German diplomacy in the German election, and expected that China Collaborative Network (Alliance) for German Studies would provide an effective platform for academic exchange. More than 40 experts and scholars from a number of European research institutes across China, including Tongji University, Fudan University, East China Normal University, Shanghai International Studies University, Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Renmin University of China, and Beijing Foreign Studies University, participated in the conference together through both in-person and online formats.
