On 26 July 2024, Paul Hunting, First Secretary of the British Embassy in Beijing, Benjamin Griffin, Consul of the British Consulate-General in Shanghai, and Pan Yuhua and Zhong Zijuan of the British Consulate-General in Shanghai visited the Shanghai Institute for Europe Studies (SIES). They had a discussion with Dai Yichen, Liu Hongsong, Long Jing, Xu Mingqi, Yang Haifeng and Zhu Lianbi on the topic of the UK general election and UK-China relations.
