The New Germany: No Other Options but to be Europe's Germany

The Symposium on the "Trends of Domestic and Foreign Policies of Germany's New Administration" Held in Tongji University
 
On the afternoon of October 26th, 2013, the Symposium on the "Trends of Domestic and Foreign Policies of Germany's New Administration" was held in Tongji University under the joint-sponsorship of Shanghai Institute for European Studies and the Center for German Studies, Tongji University. Over 60 members of SIES took part in this symposium, including SIES's president Prof. Xu Mingqi and other professors and researchers from the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, the Shanghai Instutute for International Studies, Tongji University, Shanghai International Studies University, Fudan University, the East China University of Science and Technology, and Shanghai University of Politics and Law. The keynote speeches were presided by Prof. Li Lezeng of Tongji University, and the section for discussions was moderated by SIES's honorary president Prof. Wu Yikang. The keynote speeches of this symposium included: "Germany's Electoral Outcomes and Prospect for the Forming of Its New Cabinet", made by Prof. Zheng Chunrong of Tongji University, "Prospects over the Domestic and Foreign Policies of Germany's New Administration", made by Prof. Wu Huiping of Tongji University, and "the Germany-U.S. Relations and EU-U.S. Relations after Germany's General Election", made by Prof. Zhang Zuqian of SIES. After keynote speeches, the participants of this symposium made exchanges and discussions over the topic of "the Influences of Germany's General Election over the Europe and China-EU relations", as well as the role of Germany in world affairs in the future.
