In February 2008, the Trend of European Integration and China-Europe Relation, a collection of academic research achievement of our institute during 2007, was published and issued by the Current Affairs Press. The year 2007 is a year of adjustment and reform for European Union, and a very special year of important development for China-Europe relation that was in a period of transition from old time to new era. Now some adjustment and adaptation need to be made for both China-Europe relation and specific bilateral relation between China and any specific European country, after over ten years’ excellent development of these relations with a forward impetus. It is during this year that the academic research and exchange of our Shanghai Institute for European Studies appeared more flourishing, the meditation of our members seemed to be more active and innovative, and the academic achievements of our members became more colorful and splendid, which included tracing analysis and research on new trend of European integration, profound insight of decomposition over various problems inside European Union, and analytical perspective over EU’s foreign relation from multi-lateral and bilateral viewpoint.
In order to offer a more panoramic scenario of the academic achievements made by our members during this year, we made a special collection of 33 dissertations that could provide readers with rather profound insights and innovative opinion, as well as different views and divergent ideas over some specific issues. We sincerely hope to get suggestions and opinions from members of our institute and all the friends in academic circle on this collection of dissertations, and we also sincerely welcome criticism and guidance from our friends.
