In December 2013, the European Debt Crisis and the Trends of Europe, a collection of academic papers of advanced studies on European issues, which had been contributed by scholars and professors in Shanghai and edited by SIES, was published and issued by the Current Affairs Publishing House. This collection includes 27 papers and 8 comprehensive comments of important academic conferences, which are concentrated on the theme of European debt crisis. In this collection, in-depth researches have been made over the theoretic and practical issues related to the fluctuations of EU’s handling of this crisis in the past several years, covering the surveys over various theories explaining this crisis, the anticipations over the prospects of Europe’s integration, as well as the analyses of multilevel problems and issues connected to the fiscal conditions, political party systems, social and cultural evolutions, and international relations of the overall framework of European democracy, which had been revealed by this unprecedented crisis. Therefore, this book crystalizes the latest academic achievements of scholars and professors in Shanghai over the changing situations in Europe, reflecting their theoretic probing over the actual conditions of Europe, and indicating the zeitgeist-driven and reality-oriented natures of Shanghai’s European studies.
